The 2026 Delaware ALS United Walk Now Includes a 5K Run

We have exciting news for our Delaware community! The 2026 Delaware ALS United Walk is getting even bigger and better because we’re adding a 5K run.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 12, 2026, and join us at the beautiful Wilmington Riverfront Park for a morning filled with energy, connection, and purpose. Whether you choose to participate in the walk or lace up your sneakers for the 5K, you’ll be making a meaningful difference for people living with ALS and their families.

Check-in begins at 8:00 AM, the 5K kicks off at 9:00 AM, and the Walk begins at 9:15 AM. There’s no registration fee for the Walk, and participation in the 5K is $30. Both events follow the scenic Wilmington Riverfront course, a perfect setting for coming together as a community.

Since 1977, ALS United Mid-Atlantic has worked tirelessly to ensure every person living with ALS has access to the care and support they need, while also pursuing new treatments and a cure. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we provide comprehensive, compassionate services that truly enhance quality of life. Events like the Delaware ALS United Walk and 5K help make that possible.

The addition of the 5K also honors a powerful legacy. For 25 years, ALS United Mid-Atlantic and the Mackler family hosted the Scott A. Mackler Memorial 5K Run/Walk, raising more than $3 million to support assistive technology for people living with ALS. What began in 1999 after Dr. Scott Mackler’s ALS diagnosis grew into a beloved tradition that brought hope and vital resources to so many.

Now, we’re proud to continue that spirit by bringing a 5K to the Delaware ALS United Walk. Awards will be presented in honor of the Mackler family, celebrating their extraordinary impact and ongoing legacy of resilience and compassion.

Getting involved is easy. You can join an existing team, start your own, or register as an individual and connect with others at the event. Once you’re signed up, our ALS United Walk staff will be there to support you with fundraising tips, coaching emails, and helpful tools to make sharing your story simple and impactful.

Most importantly, this day is about community. It’s about honoring loved ones, supporting families navigating ALS today, and investing in research that moves us closer to better treatments and, one day, a cure.

We hope you’ll join us at the Wilmington Riverfront this September. Together, we can walk, run, and move forward, united to end ALS.
