Advocacy Alert: Preserve Funding for Essential Research
Last month, Congress passed a Continuing Resolution that cut funding for scientific research at the National Institutes of Health and at the Congressionally Directed Research Project at the Department of Defense (CDMRP). Thankfully, because of your powerful stories, ALS funding was preserved at the CDMRP for the moment. ALS is recognized as a service-related disease, so the participation of the DOD is critical to research progress. ALS United Mid-Atlantic is collaborating with ALS organizations from across the country to stress the urgent need to fully fund these important research projects now and for the future. We are also working to fund ALS care and research at the state level.

Annual Celebration Honoree: Asplundh
ALS United Mid-Atlantic is excited to announce Asplundh as the special honoree for the 2025 Annual Celebration. This special event takes place on Friday, November 14th, at Live! Casino in Philadelphia.
During the 2024 Philadelphia Phillies ALS Awareness Day event to #StrikeOutALS, Asplundh presented ALS United Mid-Atlantic with a donation of $350,000 in honor of former Asplundh Chairman of the Board and CEO Scott Asplundh, who is battling ALS. This generous gift established a fund in Scott’s name and will be used to fund ALS United Mid-Atlantic’s research and care services.
