“I am the caregiver for my husband who has ALS. As one may know, the role of a caregiver is all consuming both emotionally and physically at the point of diagnosis and as the illness progresses.
Caregivers need to take time for themselves to remain strong because we face many challenges. As we provide care for our loved one, we need support too. I would like to thank ALS United Mid-Atlantic for providing us with educational workshops, retreat opportunities and support in accessing adaptive equipment as our journey with ALS continues.
Without the help of ALS United Mid-Atlantic and our wonderful treatment team, we could not have gotten through some rough times. Their support provides me with the strength to get through each day. I always know I can rely on ALS United Mid-Atlantic, and their team is just a phone call away. With their assistance, Guy and I can still enjoy some quality of life in spite of the illness.”
Eternally grateful,

“Watching my dad struggle without answers was heartbreaking. Even after the diagnosis, nothing prepared me for how quickly the disease would progress.
Within weeks of his diagnosis, a nurse from ALS United Mid-Atlantic came to speak with him. They were incredibly helpful in getting our family set up as we began caring for him.
Our family borrowed medical equipment that made a world of difference and, more importantly, we had someone we could call with questions or concerns.”
