On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the team at The Lehigh Valley Health Network Neuromuscular and ALS Center for Comprehensive Care organized a deeply meaningful memorial service for local ALS families. The Lehigh Valley ALS Clinic Mackin Memorial honored the lives of those who passed away from ALS and paid tribute to Dr. Glenn Mackin, who passed away in 2018 after years of building a successful ALS treatment center and caring for countless ALS patients.

The memorial event was organized by Dr. Alissa Romano and Dr. Alison Walsh, ALS United Mid-Atlantic social worker Jessie Meier, MSW, LSW, and the entire care team at Lehigh Valley Health Network.
In addition to a touching video tribute, the memorial event featured art from local ALS patients to recognize their spirit. The program book spotlighted the artwork of Deb Siekonic, a beloved local artist who passed away from ALS in November 2023.

Dr. Romano and Jessie Meier also presented awards to people who made a special impact on the local ALS community.
The Rick and Michelle Vinci – Courage, Hope, & Hugs Award was presented to Team Lenny’s Light in memory of Lenny Rafalko and in honor of all caregivers.
The Karen Delaney-Shideleff, RN Nursing Honor was given to Kevin Stanley, RN, BSN, for his connection to ALS patients and his support of research.
The Unsung Hero Award was provided to the EMG Tech Team for their tireless work to support those living with ALS.
The Glenn Mackin, MD, Service Award was given to Ginny Butler, RT, who set an example of compassion for the entire LVHN care team.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and memories. ALS United Mid-Atlantic is proud to partner with the incredible team at Lehigh Valley Health Network as we continue the legacy set forth by Dr. Glenn Mackin.
