The Walter J. Benn Memorial Fund
Walter J. Benn, a son of Ukrainian immigrants, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Walter served his country in the Navy during World War II and was educated to helping others. In honor of Walter’s courageous struggle against ALS and to raise awareness and funds for ALS research, his grandson, George Albert Pagano, II, rowed across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua. The 3,000 mile journey in a boat without a motor or sails took George 58 days, five hours, and six minutes.
