Update from the ALS United Mid-Atlantic Care Team How Medicare Changes Can Help You

The ALS United Mid-Atlantic care team is always ready to assist ALS patients and families.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic is committed to assisting ALS families in all areas of their care needs. That includes navigating the often-complicated questions surrounding insurance and Medicare.

In 2022, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which included provisions to address the costs of prescription drugs through Medicare.

In order to best inform our ALS patients, ALS United Mid-Atlantic has vital resources from AARP to highlight important changes for Medicare beneficiaries.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic Promotes Promising ALS Research Projects

ALS patient Andrew Johnson met with Dr. Andrew Geronimo at the 2024 Help and Hope Symposium.

Thanks to your donations and advocacy, ALS United Mid-Atlantic is now able to lead a bold research agenda that includes significant investments in promising trials. These advances were highlighted during the 2024 Help and Hope Symposium.

In the summer of 2024, ALS United Mid-Atlantic Board approved funding for projects at ALS-TDI, Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, the Jefferson Weinberg ALS Center, Temple University, and Pennsylvania Hospital.

Participating in research empowers ALS patients. This month, Marc Schefsky took part in an ongoing study with Dr. Andrew Geronimo at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center to advance Brain Computer Interface.

Your donations and advocacy make this promising research possible.

November 2024 Volunteers of the Month:
Jess Ashby and Samuel Adams Brewing Company

Samuel Adams Brewing Company is a leader in the fight against ALS. Since 2010, their golf outing has raised over $263,000 for ALS United Mid-Atlantic’s care and research programs. Over the past five years, Jess Ashby has organized the golf outing and ALS United Walk activities with Samuel Adams Brewing Company. ALS is personal to Jess, as she lost a sergeant to ALS during her time serving in the U.S. Army. Now Jess is proud to continue to give back and support the ALS cause.
