Information on ALS Care Services

The ALS United Mid-Atlantic care team is always ready to assist ALS patients and families.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic proudly offers direct care to people with ALS and their families with experienced local social workers and nurses. In addition to meeting at ALS Treatment Centers and home visits, our team has collaborated for educational videos on important topics ranging from Accessibility to Coping with ALS and our Visiting Volunteer Program. Take a moment today to watch our latest videos and share to educate others about the service available to everyone in our region impacted by ALS.

The Power of ALS Advocacy

ALS advocates show their power by sharing their personal stories with lawmakers to encourage them to improve the quality of life for those impacted by ALS. These advocacy efforts have led to legislation to benefit veterans with ALS, greater funding for ALS research, improved access for services like home care, and more.

One of the most important ways that you can make an impact is by voting. ALS United Mid-Atlantic encourages you to register to vote and to learn about how to vote by mail if needed.

Upcoming Events

ALS United Walk

It was a busy month for our ALS United Walk teams. Through September, we held Walks in Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City, and Lehigh Valley, which raised over $272,000! On behalf of the ALS United Mid-Atlantic team, we thank all participants, sponsors, and volunteers. Your support significantly impacts our ability to provide local patient care programs.

In November, we look forward to wrapping up our Walk season at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, November 16. We hope to see you there!

Volunteer of the Month: Lori Scalleat

Lori Scalleat was on the beach with her husband Jimmy when they received the call that he had been diagnosed with ALS in 2022. She became his caregiver and advocate until he passed away from ALS in November 2023. Today, Lori continues to volunteer in his memory by organizing fundraising events, participating in the ALS United Walk, and raising awareness in her community.
