The Scranton ALS Community Gathered at PNC Field to Walk to End ALS
On Saturday, April 18th, the Scranton community came together at PNC Field in Moosic, PA for the ALS United Walk, filling the day with hope, strength, and unity. Under beautiful spring skies, participants, volunteers, families, friends, caregivers, and supporters joined ALS United Mid-Atlantic with one shared purpose: to support those living with ALS, honor loved ones, and move closer to a cure.
Walk participants kicked off the day by checking in, picking up their Walk t-shirts, and visiting tents featuring merchandise, sponsors, and opportunities to connect with others in the ALS community. The energy throughout the morning was uplifting, with teams proudly gathering, sharing stories, and preparing to walk side by side.

During the Opening Ceremony, ALS United Mid-Atlantic Executive Director, Tony Heyl, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and support. The community paused to remember those we’ve lost, recognize those bravely living with ALS, and honor the caregivers who stand beside them every day.
Top fundraisers were then recognized for their incredible efforts:
Top Fundraising Teams
1. Team Ted
2. Team! Miller-Time
3. Team Michele
Top Fundraising Individuals
1. Margaret Chappen
2. Michele Yelland
3. Paul Miller
Following the ceremony, teams began their walk around PNC Field, united in purpose and determination. Each step taken was a reminder that no one in the ALS community walks alone.

By the end of the event, the Scranton ALS United Walk raised over $40,000. This meaningful total reflects the generosity and dedication of every participant, donor, and supporter. Funds raised will directly support local care services, support programs, advocacy efforts, and critical ALS research.
Throughout the day, the spirit of unity was undeniable. From team shirts and signs to shared stories and encouragement, the Scranton Walk embodied the strength of a community coming together for something bigger than themselves.

Looking Ahead
The impact of the Scranton ALS United Walk extends far beyond a single day. Every dollar raised and every step taken helps improve the lives of those affected by ALS and brings us closer to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
To everyone who participated—whether you walked, donated, volunteered, or cheered others on—thank you. Your support makes a lasting difference.
If you haven’t yet had the chance, there is still time to contribute or share your story. Together, we remain united in the fight to end ALS.
Supporters can continue to donate to the Scranton ALS United Walk through the end of the year.
