For the past seven years, Carla Patton has been an amazing presence at ALS United Mid-Atlantic as the special events manager. From gatherings at the beautiful Longwood Gardens to the heartwarming annual Holiday Party, Carla is the driving force behind these events, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Thanks to her dedication, families can create wonderful memories that they will cherish for years to come.
ALS Family Outing to Longwood Gardens
Set against the stunning backdrop of Longwood Gardens, this gathering offers a peaceful space for families to experience the beauty of blooming flowers and the soothing sounds of nature. While enjoying the picturesque surroundings, ALS United Mid-Atlantic hosts a catered lunch, providing an opportunity for families to connect. With around 200 guests each year, Carla’s exceptional coordination and planning guarantee that every attendee has a fantastic experience.


ALS Family Fun Day at Knoebels Amusement Park
Every July, individuals with ALS and their families gather at the delightful Knoebels Amusement Park. Families are treated to a free lunch under the pavilion before the fun begins! After lunch, each family receives a booklet of tickets for rides and games. Throughout the afternoon, families explore the park, enjoying the many games and attractions available. By the end of the day, they leave with smiles and many happy memories.

Caregiver’s Day
Carla is committed to supporting our incredible caregivers by closely collaborating with our social workers to organize meaningful events across the region. Caregiver’s Day is designed to educate, nurture, and pamper those who selflessly care for their loved ones living with ALS. In the past, Carla has planned engaging activities such as painting workshops, flower arranging, and meditation sessions.

ALS Family Holiday Party
At the Holiday Party, families enjoy a delicious meal along with crafts, entertainment, games, face painting, and more. Carla works diligently to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. At the end of this wonderful event, she presents each child with a gift just for them. The Holiday Party creates cherished memories for individuals with ALS and their families, and attendees frequently express their gratitude to Carla for organizing such a remarkable event.
